Warden Security Messages

Possibility of Demonstrations

March, 19, 2008

This Warden Message is to alert American citizens to the possibility
of demonstrations in El Fasher on Thursday, March 20, 2008 against the
re-publication of Danish cartoons deemed by some to be offensive to
Muslims and Islam . A religious gathering at the old stadium near the
market is scheduled for 1600 hrs on Thursday and local religious
leaders are expected to denounce the cartoons. The possibility of
protests against these cartoons remains in the future. Americans are
advised to avoid unecessary movements in areas close to the market,
continue to be alert to the formation of large crowds, and are
encouraged to steer clear of such crowds and demonstrations.

All citizens living or traveling in Sudan are encouraged to register
with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate through the Department of
State's website, http://travel.state.gov, to obtain updated
information regarding travel and security within Sudan. By
registering, American citizens make it easier for the Embassy to
contact them in case of emergency.

The U.S. Embassy is located at Sharia Ali Abdul Latif, Khartoum; tel.
