Warden Message—Demonstrations Likely Following International Criminal Court Announcement
February 27, 2007
Local political organizations have publicized plans to stage demonstrations and mobilize campaigns to protest the February 27 announcement by the International Criminal Court of an initial list of suspects accused of war crimes in Darfur. Demonstrations are likely to take place in the days following this announcement. Although the U.S. Embassy has no specific details concerning when and where these gatherings might occur, the Embassy advises American citizens to exercise prudence and avoid crowds or large gatherings. In the past, some demonstrations have become violent.
