Possible Demonstrations

February 21, 2008

This Warden Message is to alert American citizens that there is a possibility of demonstrations tomorrow, Friday, February 22, 2008, after prayers at about 1400 against the re-publication of Danish cartoons. The Embassy has no specific information regarding possible demonstration locations. Following the original publication of the cartoons, which
many individuals considered offensive to Islam, there were widespread demonstrations. Be aware and alert to the formation of large crowds and avoid them.

All citizens living or traveling in Sudan are encouraged to register with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate through the Department of State's website, http://travel.state.gov, to obtain updated information travel and security within Sudan. By registering, American citizens make it easier for the Embassy to contact them in case of emergency.
