Non-emergency consular services now available by appointment

The U.S. Embassy wishes to inform U.S. Citizens that to provide timely services to U.S. citizens in a more secure environment, non-emergency consular services will now be available only by appointment.  Non-emergency services include applications for passports, extra passport pages, Consular Reports of Birth, and notarial services.

The U.S. Embassy adjusts staffing and office hours in accordance with security conditions.  Only individuals with an appointment will be admitted to the Embassy for non-emergency consular services. To request an appointment, please E-mail the consular section at Khartoumconsular@state.gov or call the consular section at +249-83-774-700 between 1-3 PM Sunday-Thursday.

U.S. citizens who require emergency assistance may call the Embassy at any time and ask to speak to the duty officer.  Americans who appear at the Embassy and require emergency assistance will be assisted by the consular officer without an appointment.

U.S. citizens living or traveling in Sudan should register their presence in Sudan with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate through the Department of State's website (http://travel.state.gov/) and obtain updated information regarding travel and security within Sudan.  By registering, American citizens make it easier for the Embassy to contact them in case of emergency.

The U.S. Embassy is located at Sharia Ali Abdul Latif, Khartoum; tel. (249-183)774-700/1/2/3 (outside Sudan); tel (0183) 774-700/1/2/3 (inside Sudan).  U.S. citizens may contact the consular section by phone between 1-3 PM, Sunday-Thursday, or email KhartoumConsular@state.gov.  Additional information is available on our website: http://sudan.usembassy.gov/. For emergencies, please call the Embassy and ask to be connected to the duty officer.
