This Warden Message is to alert American citizens to the possibility of demonstrations in Khartoum near the Danish Embassy, UN Headquarters, and the Presidential Palace on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, against the
re-publication of Danish cartoons deemed by some to be offensive to Muslims and Islam. Demonstrations may occur at other times and locations, including other cities in Sudan. The possibility of protests against these cartoons may continue in the future. Americans are advised to continue to be alert to the formation of large crowds, and encouraged to steer clear of such crowds and demonstrations.
All citizens living or traveling in Sudan are encouraged to register with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate through the Department of State's website, http://travel.state.gov, to obtain updated information
travel and security within Sudan. By registering, American citizens make it easier for the Embassy to contact them in case of emergency.
