The United States Embassy in Khartoum advises all U.S. citizens in Sudan to review their security posture and take appropriate precautions in light of the recent attack and killing of an American Embassy official and his Sudanese driver.
The U.S. Embassy has taken heightened security measures to protect Embassy personnel when traveling in Sudan, which include obtaining advance permission for all travel outside of Khartoum and the proposed
mode of transportation to be used. American citizens residing in Sudan
are encouraged to carefully review and assess their safety and
security situations and to practice situational awareness to ensure
personal safety.
All citizens living or traveling in Sudan are encouraged to register with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate through the Department of State's website, http://travel.state.gov, to obtain updated information travel and security within Sudan. By registering, American citizens make it easier for the Embassy to contact them in case of emergency.
