Report Death Abroad
To report the death, serious illness, or arrest of an American citizen, please contact the Embassy switchboard at (249) 183-774-701/2/3. After hours, please call (249) 183-774-700 and ask to be connected to the Consular Duty Officer.
If you wish to report the death of a Social Security beneficiary, please contact the Consular Section, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Sunday through Thursday. Provide the following information: the name and the Social Security claim number of the deceased beneficiary; the date of death of the beneficiary; if the beneficiary is survived by a spouse or a child; and your own name and address. Please allow about 120 days for a reply.
