Undergraduate Study in the U.S. – An Introduction

This introductory session is for anyone who wants to study in the U.S. for a Bachelor’s Degree. It will cover what tests are necessary, the requirements for applying, how to locate universities, and how to determine if you are a good candidate. If you are interested in studying for a Baccalaureate Degree in the U.S., please email educationUSAsudan@state.gov and ask for an invitation to “Undergraduate Study in the U.S. – An Introduction.” This is not a scholarship program. Education USA Advising Center Sudan will give you the resources to make decisions with accurate, unbiased information.

 Graduate Study in the U.S. – How to Get Started

This introductory session is for anyone wanting to study for a Master’s Degree or Ph.D. It will cover the topics of funding that is available, testing that is necessary, finding universities, a time table for the application process, and determining if a U.S. university is right for you. If you are interested in studying for a Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in the U.S. please email educationUSAsudan@state.gov and ask for an invitation to “Graduate Study in the U.S. – How to Get Started.” This is not a scholarship program. Education USA Advising Center Sudan will give you the resources to make decisions, find universities and professors with whom to work, and to search for funding.

 Graduate Study in the U.S. – Step 1

Anyone who has attended “Graduate Study in the U.S.- How to Get Started” will be invited to “Graduate Study in the U.S. – Step 1.”Step 1 will look more deeply into finding the right universities for you, making a plan, and answering questions that have arisen after initial university searches have begun. If you have attended “Graduate Study in the U.S. – How to Get Started” and want to join the next “Graduate Study in the U.S. – Step 1,” please email  educationUSAsudan@state.gov and ask for an invitation to “Graduate Study in the U.S – Step 1.” 

Mock TOEFL  (Test of English as a Foreign Language)

This session is open to anyone who expects to ever take the TOEFL. This practice paper-based TOEFL uses the proper answer sheet for the PbTOEFL and will give the student an approximate score. It is excellent preparation for someone who is just starting to study, to establish a base-line, or for someone who has studied for the TOEFL and would like to test their ability. This session is offered monthly. If you would like to attend, please send an email to educationUSAsudan@state.gov and ask for an invitation to the Mock TOEFL.

 Statement of Purpose

The Statement of Purpose is an extremely important essay that is expected in graduate applications. This session helps a student understand the requirements of this essay, and prepares them to write it. This session is offered about every 6 weeks. People attending this session are highly encouraged to attend the “Letters of Recommendation/CV/Statement of Purpose Review”. If you would like to attend, please send an email to educationUSAsudan@state.gov and ask for an invitation to the “Statement of Purpose” session.

 Letters of Recommendation/CV/Statement of Purpose Review

This session is for anyone who has attended “Graduate Study in the U.S. – Step 1” or has already begun the process of applying to universities for graduate school. There are 3 different topics in this session. 1)What kind of letters of recommendation will be helpful when applying to U.S. universities, whom to ask for them and how to ask are all questions that will be answered in this session. 2)What makes a good CV and CV style is also covered. 3)The Statement of Purpose Review is for anyone who has attended the Statement of Purpose session and has written their Statement of Purpose to the best of their ability, having had others read and edit it before attending this session. They may bring their Statement of Purpose to this session to have an American read and review it.  This session is offered about every 6 weeks.
