    On U.S. Speaker's Program

    Part of the recently-institued American Speaker's Program utilizing Embassy staff to engage Sudanese youth on selected topics of interest. This was a presentation to students of the Physical Education Department from the Sudan University of Science and Technology. Two members of the Embassy staff gave a 90-minute presentation on the topic of Sports in the United States. The presentation was followed by an informal question and answer session.

    Grant for AWU for development of Civil Society Networks for Constitutional Development

    USAID Dep. AA for Africa Linda announced the intent to award a new grant for US$500,0000 to Afhad University for Women for the development of Civil Society Networks for Constitutional Development. This proposed grant’s objective is to strengthen the network of civil society organizations working on a new constitution for Sudan, by contacting interested parties, and facilitating information sharing.

    Charge Amb. Mary C. Yates met with representatives of Sudanese NGOs focusing on combating female genital mutilation on February 19, 2012.

    Charge Amb. Yates met with leaders of the Youth wings of Sudan's major political parties on January 11, 2012. The Charge and DCM Dennis Hankins delivered presentations on USG foreign policy and the U.S. foreign policy process.
