Embassy Celebrates Jazz Appreciation Month
The Embassy celebrated Jazz Month in April by partnering with the Union of Modern Music and Jazz Groups to host a series of three concerts. Each week different bands performed in Omdurman, North Khartoum, and Khartoum ensuring that over 3000 people celebrated that quintessential American sound that is jazz.
Embassy Holds Second Book Club
On Monday April 22, 2013, the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy arranged the second book club at the University of Khartoum. More than 100 members and guests attended and enjoyed the event discussing F Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.
Celebrating Women's History Month
On Monday March 25th, 2013, the Embassy hosted a Musical Celebration in honor of Women's History Month. An all female band played traditional Sudanese women songs revolving around different topics.
Embassy Holds First Book Club
On Thursday March 21, 2013 PAS held its first Book Club in the Embassy. Around 70 participants celebrated the Women History Month by actively discussing the classic "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott.
Embassy hosts Alumni Reception
On Wednesday, February 27, 2013, the Embassy organized a reception for Alumni. More than 70 persons attended and enjoyed the evening. The CDA remarked on importance of people to people relationships.

U.S. citizens who require emergency assistance may call the Embassy at any time at 249-187-022000 (from outside Sudan), or 0187-022000 (inside Sudan), and ask to speak to the Embassy duty officer. U.S. citizens who require emergency assistance and come to the Embassy during business hours will be assisted by the consular staff without an appointment.

Heightened Security Threat in Khartoum and Omdurman
The U.S. Embassy in Sudan is issuing this Security Message to alert U.S. citizens that the Embassy is temporarily prohibiting all discretionary travel of U.S. Government employees and their family members to Omdurman because of recent increased security threats. In addition, the Embassy is exercising caution by temporarily limiting the movements of official U.S. citizens and family members. This includes but is not limited to avoiding public gatherings and avoiding locations frequented by westerners.
