USAID Administrator Henrietta H. Fore Visits Sudan

USAID Administrator Henrietta H. Fore visited Sudan on November 21-23 to review the current humanitarian situation and observe progress on USAID's assistance programs. In Darfur, Fore met with Sudanese government officials before visiting a camp housing people who have been displaced by the region's devastating violence. At the camp, outside of l Fasher, North Darfur, Fore reiterated the United States' commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to those in need and to finding a lasting solution to the four-year conflict. Fore then traveled to Juba, the capital of Southern Sudan, to view three USAID project sites and discuss U.S. assistance with members of the Government of Southern Sudan. She reiterated that this is a critical time in Southern Sudan, and that it is important for the Sudanese and American governments to redouble their efforts to ensure peace and stability. Fore was also able to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with USAID and Embassy staff and thank them for their dedication.
